Day 9
We did it!!! We finally made breakfast.
Admittedly it was with only 15 minutes to spare but a win is a win.
Everyone else clearly had the same idea as the place was rammed.
We finally managed to get a table and I sat there guarding it while Joss went off to get her toast and marmalade.
When she got back I went for my breakfast and when I got back to the table, Joss was walking back with a tea and a coffee.
Some thieving git had nicked her toast!!!
She had to get some more.
To be fair the view did make up for the inconvenience.
Today was the deciding match in the 3 ODI series with it finely poised at 1 game each.
Instead of going to the air conditioned boxes we went into the main stands and it was bloody hot.
Luckily we were in the shade and beer and water were cheap and plentiful.
For the first time we won the toss so elected to bat.
We started off so slowly but as soon as Root and Brook were in the scoring exploded and they both scored centuries - it was a privilege to behold.
During that innings, Joss was distracted by a man with great hair.
Yes, of course she did ….
England amassed a huge total of 350+ and Sri Lanka started strongly in response.
This young lady kept us amused by doing a wriggly/sexy dance whenever a boundary was scored to try to get on tv - so when we go a wicket I did the same.
Thankfully no photos / videos of that.
Despite their strong start they couldn’t keep it up we we ended up winning handsomely to take the series 2-1.
I have to say that the atmosphere was so much better today - shame Sri Lanka weren’t as well supported in the first 2 games.
We got back to the hotel at 22:50 and I was starving so we rushed to Burger King just before it shut - lovely.
Well that ends our Colombo experience - onto Kandy tomorrow.
