Day 15

The alarm was set for 8:30 and we were at breakfast at just gone 9.

We both had muesli then I went for cheese omelette, bacon, spiced potato and beans.

Joss ridiculed my breakfast mercilessly and then got herself a cheese omelette, bacon, spiced potato and tomato.

Do you notice any similarities????

We then tidied our room so that the cleaners could tidy our room and met up with Rob and Karen just before 11am.

Our driver was waiting ready to take us to the millennium elephant foundation.

On the way we stopped off to look at some stunning views.

It was really interesting to see how Sri Lankans lived as we passed through towns - so colourful and vibrant.

When we got there we were told that their card machine wasn’t working.

We said that we didn’t have enough cash then and all of a sudden the card machine worked - it’s a miracle!!!!

We paid for an hour’s session where first we fed the elephants.

Then we walked with the elephants.

Then we bathed the elephants.

It was honestly the best side trip that we have done. We felt so privileged to get so close.

We were dropped off at our favourite bar the Hideout Lounge where I had the black pork curry, Joss had a chicken dish and bothered Karen and Rob and the pork chops.

None of us were disappointed.

This was washed down with Lion beer but as Karen and Joss had been soaked by the elephant, they wanted to go back and prepare for tonight’s “last night get together”.

I countered that by saying the ladies could go now and I’d get Rob back by 18:30 - they weren’t having it - they just didn’t believe me - bloody outrageous.

I was drinking a can of Lion and the last part of the beer was frozen solid.

I “commented” to the waiter that this surely warranted another free beer, despite it only being 10% frozen.

He agreed so I shared it with just Rob - the others didn’t want to stay, after all.

We called the guy that had took us out for the day to take us to the hotel and he was there in minutes - we paid him again even though he insisted it wasn’t necessary - good things happen to good people.

We got ready for the night out and went up to the hotel bar.

Joss saw Jos Buttler with 2 other England players and despite my distinct instructions to leave them alone, she went up to him,

I guess fortune really does favour the brave.

We had a bbq chicken with a beer then decided that we were going to the Hideout Lounge.

As we walked down the corridor we decided to stay with Rob and Karen so stayed in the hotel bar.

We chatted to them and Rob, one of the tour leaders, until gone 2 (not Joss and Karen. - they went a long time before)

It’s now very late.
